The Future Perfect Project is currently seeking a part-time Graphic Designer / Marketing Manager who can work remotely with our team doing graphic design and managing our social media, digital marketing and pr.

About the organization

The Future Perfect Project is a 501(c)(3) national arts organization amplifying the voices of LGBTQIA+ youth and offering them creative opportunities in media and live performance. Since 2017 we have produced over 100 in-person writing workshops, two full-length albums, an original podcast, a series of animated shorts, two comic superhero short films, an online interview series, live performances, and we have encouraged the creativity of thousands of queer young people around the country. We envision a world where every young person feels safe, seen, and celebrated in their home and community, and we believe that the self-expression of LGBTQIA+ youth is a declaration of a better future for us all.


About the position

The Future Perfect Project (FPP) is seeking a reliable and proactive partner to join our small team as graphic designer and lead manager of the organization’s overall outfacing branding and marketing. FPP is a progressive, queer-centered team and we encourage everyone on our staff and in our network to bring their authentic selves to the table. The ideal candidate is someone with a strong foundation in graphic design, and experience with social media, digital marketing and publicity. This person should be comfortable wearing many hats on a small team, and have a dedicated, personal interest in amplifying the voices of queer youth. The position starts as a 6-month contract at 12 hrs/week with the potential for renewal and expansion. The job is remote with direct reports and attendance at the weekly team meeting is required. (Current team members live in NYC, the Hudson Valley of New York, and Los Angeles.)

Position Details

  • Job Structure 

    • $1,500/month. Independent contractor. No benefits at this time.

    • 12 hours/week, with no less than 3 days/week (includes a weekly team meeting).

    • 6 month contract with review at end of contract, and potential to continue

    • Contract starts September 1st or 15th, 2023.

Job Activities

  • Alongside the Director of Operations and Associate Artistic Director, strategize and manage the overall outward-facing brand of FPP to appeal to our target audiences, including but not limited to: cohesive imagery, language, and overall aesthetic of the organization, 

  • Create the necessary graphics and digital assets for all outfacing opportunities and project releases. (Experienced graphic designer required). 

  • In collaboration with the FPP team, strategize and manage all of FPP’s digital platforms and content calendars, including Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, Discord, and our website (made on Wix). 

  • Strategize and manage the individual marketing plans for all opportunities we offer to the youth, with the overall goal of expanding and diversifying our reach to new LGBTQ+ youth who might be interested in participating in our programs.

  • Strategize and manage the individual marketing plans for current and future media releases and public events, including: writing and sharing press releases for news outlets, connecting with possible influencers to spread the word, preparing all necessary graphics and social media assets, and more

Qualifications and Experience

  • Proficiency with Graphic Design programs: Canva, Indesign, Photoshop and/or Adobe Illustrator. After Effects is a plus.  

  • Experience with Marketing, Social Media, Copyrighting, and Publicity (preferred)

  • Mandatory Remote Work Applications include: Zoom, Gmail, Slack, G-Suite Documents and Spreadsheets, and iCal.

  • Ability to work independently, self-manage, meet agreed-upon benchmarks, and collaborate with a small team of artists
